When you play the clip in Resolve, you’ll find that one of them (Left Channel, for example) might be better compared to the other. Let’s say, you record a stereo audio (dialogue of your actor) in 2 microphones (the second microphone is generally for a backup). How to Fill Right Channel Audio with Left in DaVinci Resolve? It all starts with the clips in the media pool. (More on that later).īut before even dragging and dropping your audio clips to the timeline, you must determine the audio format of your clips.įirst set right the clip format and then determine the track format. Make sure to match the track format to the clip audio format. Similarly, when you have a mono audio clip and drag and drop it over a stereo audio track, you’ll have 2 channels displayed with one of them being empty! If you have a stereo audio clip in the media pool, and if your audio track in timeline is set to mono, then when you drag and drop the audio clip onto the track, obviously you’ll have only one channel, to match the track format. Various Audio formats and Channels: FormatĦ Channels – Left, Right, Center, LFE, Left Surround, Right SurroundĨ Channels – Left, Right, Center, LFE, Left Surround, Right Surround, Left Surround Rear, Right Surround RearĪ Very important thing is – you must use the correct track format in the timeline to match the audio format.

You can now use the clips as though they were synced on set. Before we start, you should know a bit about the different audio formats and channels with respect to how DaVinci Resolve handles them. Select this clip, or clips, in the media pool, then right-click on one of the highlighted clips and select “Update timecode from audio – LTC.” DaVinci Resolve automatically and instantly updates the clip timecode using the LTC it finds on the audio tracks. This makes multi-cam or dual sound system syncing a time consuming manual operation.ĭaVinci Resolve offers a solution to this problem if, by connecting an externally generated timecode to the camera audio input, the video that’s recorded by the camera has a timecode reference recorded on the audio track during the shoot. Their recorded timecode may be time of day or free run timecode, but it would not be frame accurately synced to other cameras, the dual system audio recorder or the digital slate. Some cameras do not offer the ability to sync to an external timecode source. That’s why you need to import only the files recorded on the Zoom H5 into our Tentacle Sync Studio and export them as ‘Media’ with embedded TC. However this software cannot read Audio TC from audio clips.

I got this from Tentacle support, regarding Resolve: NickMDal, actually “update timecode from audio” only works with video clips, not audio clips.
